Philip V (1700-1746). 8 escudos. 1721/19. Segovia. F. (Cal-2262). (Cal onza–455). . “Cross” type. Clear overdate. Spectacular and superb specimen with full original luster and exceptional eye appeal. Excellent struck with immaculate surfaces and a deep yellow color. Extremely rare in this condition and certain to attract the attention of the most discerning collectors.
Slabbed by NGC as MS 63 (Top Pop), the finest specimen recorded in the NGC census.

Sicily. Syracuse. Dekadrachm. 405-370 BC. Signed works by Master Euainetos. (Gallatin RVII/CXV, same dies). (Sng Ans-362). Anv.: Charioteer driving galloping quadriga to left, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left; above, Nike flies to right, wreath in outstretched arms to crown charioteer; in exergue, panoply of arms on two steps: cuirass, two greaves, Phrygian helmet; horizontal spear behind. Rev.: Head of nymph Arethusa to left, wearing wreath of reeds, triple-pendant earring, and pearl necklace; ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ behind, four dolphins around and below lowermost dolphin under neck, signature EY-AINE. . 42,39 g.
Well-centered with deeply carved reliefs. Lovely cabinet patina with soft golden and bluish hues that further enhance its outstanding eye appeal. Some minor edge corrosion and signature off flan. Extremely rare.

Flat peripheries on the planchet, yet the four-digit date, mintmark, and assayer are all visible. Nearly complete shield and full cross, with legends missing on the reverse. Nice color.

Flower on the value. Though once mounted, it retains an attractive overall appearance and, more importantly, bears an overdate unpublished in the standard references. Such a feature greatly enhances its historical and numismatic importance. We are confident it will spark strong interest among advanced collectors of this period. An extremely rare piece, all the more so with the presence of a double date. Choice VF.

Cross and lions-castles complete and well centered, with part of the king’s name visible: …HILIPPV… Assayer not visible due to slight double striking. Pillars, waves, and date fully visible. Rare. Almost XF.

Argentina. 8 escudos. 1831/0. La Rioja. RA P. (Km-21). (Cal onza–1564). . Traces of expertly repaired solder at 1 o’clock on the obverse and 10 o’clock on the reverse. Despite this, the piece retains strong visual appeal, with well-defined details —including a clearly visible overdate— and an attractive orange tone. Very rare; we have not found any examples of this overdate offered at auction in recent years. Slabbed by NGC as AU Details, Removed from jewelry.
